Commissioner Rick Smith became a Holden Beach Town Commissioner in May 2021 when a commissioner resigned. He won the election in November 2021 and is now a commissioner for four years.
Commissioner Smith has a long history with Holden Beach. Rick's father and uncles bought the property at 823 Ocean Boulevard West in 1958 and it has been in the family ever since. In fact he is now the owner of the property. Although Rick was born and raised in High Point, he has spent many days at Holden Beach for summer long vacations, every possible weekend and family fishing trips.
Rick has just retired from Thomas Bus and associated companies after 38 years and he is ready to give back to Holden Beach. Rick's work experience of safety, logistics, supervising and organization will be a great benefit to the commissioners and the town.
He is supported by his wife Lori, 4 children, 8 grandchildren and many friends who want him to keep Holden Beach the best beach for families and friends to visit or live in North Carolina
