Robert E. Brown and his wife, Mary Vail Ware, purchased their home in Holden Beach in 2020 and became permanent residents in 2022. The welcoming atmosphere and small-town charm of this family-oriented beach community inspired them to make the move from the Richmond, Virginia area, where they had lived for more than 30 years.
Robert has dedicated more than 38 years to the funeral service profession. During his career in Richmond, he worked with Bliley Funeral Homes, beginning as an apprentice and advancing through the ranks to Licensed Funeral Director, Location Manager, and ultimately Chief Operations Officer, a position he held for the final 12 years of his tenure. He currently serves as a Pre-Planning Funeral Director with Andrews Mortuary and Crematory in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Robert earned a Mortuary Science degree from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Business and Religion from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Throughout his career, Robert has been actively involved in community service and civic engagement. His volunteer and leadership roles have included serving as a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor, President of the Brandermill Rotary Club, YMCA Bright Beginnings volunteer, youth soccer and baseball coach, and volunteer with Richmond Friends of the Homeless.
In his free time, Robert enjoys fishing, golfing, home improvement projects, boating, traveling, and spending time with his wife and family along the coast.
Robert considers it a privilege and honor to serve the residents of Holden Beach and contribute to the continued success and quality of life of the community he is proud to call home.
